Battle of Coral Sea Memorial in Townsville, North Queensland
I just received this email from my friend, Frank Farris, who is on a trip to Australia...
Hello, everyone.
Greetings from Townsville, North Queensland, a tropical town located in North-East Australia.
In touring the town I came across a beautiful memorial to the Battle of the Coral Sea, which took place during WWII. It is a solemn reminder of the strong bond that was held then as it is today between the United States and Australia and the many lives that were lost by both countries protecting our freedom.
I typed up the engravement below...
Sleep my sons.Your duty done... For freedom's light has come - sleep in the silent depths of the sea or in your bed of hallowed sod - until you hear at dawn the low, clear reveille of God.
